Angelcare Baby Movement and Sound Monitor, Blue Review

I am a first time mom and paranoid of all the dangers for an infant. I am terrified of SIDS. I couldn’t sleep at night because I was waking every 20 minutes to check on my baby. One night when I checked on her, she was breathing so shallow I couldn’t feel her tummy rise. I thought she had stopped breathing I panicked and shook her torso; she jumped and started to cry because I had scared her. After that she slept in my bed, but again I didn’t sleep because I was afraid of her wiggling under me. I couldn’t keep doing this to myself or my daughter. I didn’t even know they made a monitor like this until I was desperately trying to find anything that monitors breathing on Amazon. After I received the monitor, I can finally sleep again and my daughter is happy sleeping in her crib without me freaking out and waking her up.

The pad goes under the crib mattress and plugs into the main base monitor. The base monitor plugs into an outlet and blinks to show that there is breathing/any movement in the crib. It can detect the slightest movement. The listening monitor has a base that recharges itself, so I leave that part plugged into an outlet next to my night stand. The listening monitor can be set to also go off to wake me her my daughters room get too hot or too cold (you set the temperatures), and if I take the monitor too far out of range. If the main base monitor does not detect any movement for 20 seconds it will beep loud (like a fire alarm) in her room and my monitor in my room will also beep loudly and vibrate.

I did have a false alarm once. My daughter had wiggled herself all the way to the corner of her crib. Everything was fine though. I’d rather have false alarms like that then to not be woken at all.

Another great feature that this product has is on the listening monitor there is a little swigging ball. This shows that there is movement/breathing movement in her crib. I like this because sometimes I still wake up, but I can be reassured by just looking at the movement on my screen. I highly recommend this product! Thank you to whoever invented it.

Couldn’t live without this monitor! – Deseri Cranney – Idaho
This was the best money I’ve spent on baby gear! This monitor has given me such piece of mind, and I’ve been able to sleep so much better without feeling that I need to check on my baby all the time. It works really well and we’ve had no false alarms. The temperature reading also really helps you to know how to dress baby for bed. I can carry the receiver outside in the yard and across the street to the neighbors and the reception is great. I highly recommend this monitor!

I won’t deny this has given me a lot more peace of mind, I was neurotically checking on my son all the time to see if he was breathing. However, paying the extra for the thermostat etc sort of bums me out — the temperature gauge is definitely off (I’ve checked it against another thermometer). Also, the whole system seems glitchy. The sensor will all of a sudden start going off all the time even when my son hasn’t moved off the sensor, he’s still breathing, nothing is changed– it’s like it just goes nuts occasionally. And, sometimes the receivers show that the temperature in the room has jumped up to 78 degrees when that DEFINITELY is not the case. The glitchy electronics make me feel less secure that the product is truly working the way its supposed to, so my peace of mind is diminished. I would buy this again but would buy the lower end version. It appears the Amazon price is far superior to the standard Babies R Us price, so that’s a big “pro”.

I am a First Time Mom and worried sick over leaving my son in his own crib for the first time. I remember waking up every hour just to check to see if he was breathing. This product gave me a peace of mind. I know I can fully rely on it to do the job. I no longer worry and in return my son gets a good nights sleep as do I. We travel to my parent’s home about 2 hours away every month and I pack my monitor up. Its very easy to set up and easy to move. I would recommend this to all moms!
